Class Pet??

Hi everyone!!! I hope you had a great weekend! So, as I was home with family, I started thinking about having a class pet this coming year. (crazy??) I've never had one before, but I'd really like to use it for lessons, jobs, etc. I looked on PetSmarts website, and they have a whole section on class pets and level of experience for the teachers to know which ones are easiest!! It's so nice!
So has anyone had a pet fish in their classroom before?? I think that is what I'm leaning toward!
Beta fish, glo fish, tropical fish??

If you have any advice or suggestions, please let me know!! We are on a balanced calendar so we go back to school July 29th so I still have some weeks, but I'm really trying to get certain things in order now so I don't have to spend time doing it right before! :)

Thanks so much for any help!!!! What we do for our students! :)

  1. I had stick bugs this year....they all ended up dying after a few months though! I blogged about when we got them:

I really want a chameleon next year, but I am not sure about the care so I will be curious if anyone else has experience with lizards in the classroom.

    1. Thank you for the info! I'm definitely going to check out your post on your stickbugs. I thought fish may be pretty low maintenance especially since I have never had a class pet yet. hah :) I'm super excited about it, though!! Can't wait to hear what you end up getting!

  3. :) I'm really excited; however, I get a little nervous when I'm going to have to transfer the fish in the net!! haha One bounced out before when I was helping my sister with her county fair fish! Of course, then it's going crazy because it's a fish out of water! hah :) I'll be updating as I get things started in a few weeks!
